Brass Handles With Locks – Adding a New Touch of Class to Your Bathroom

Article 234

All doors have a wood “grille” or skirting attached to the side, & a solid wooden door is known as a mortise lock. The skirting on a door is normally not attached to the door itself but rather runs across the bottom of the door just above the hinges. Doors are typically hung from a single large centre post or rack. It is known as a keystone. Keys are then inserted into this keystone, and you can then operate the door. As mentioned earlier, it is important to ensure the keystone has a good solid wood cover.

I recently refurbished a bedroom closet, & during the refurbishment, we had several brasses handles with locks removed. They were a lovely pair of antique brass handles with a beautiful brass overlay. They had been well used, but they had a worn look when removed from the door. But when attaching to the new door, they looked brand new, just like new! We attached some beautiful brass pegs in the holes for the handles to make the change even more dramatic. These made the brass handles stand out and added a nice touch to the room.

Another room in our house where handles with locks are necessary is the bathroom. Often when someone takes a shower, the tub will squeak loudly. Also, there are times when people shower with their hair up, & these annoying leaks can be quite irritating. To combat these leaks & prevent squeaking, you can install shower curtains over the shower handles. These shower curtains hang down on both sides of the tub so water can’t get behind them also to help keep your floor dry.

If you’re thinking about buying brass handles with locks but don’t know where to start, I suggest you start by finding a hardware store & looking through their brass knobs. You’ll probably be quite surprised at how many handles are available in this metal. Some hardware stores have small display counters, & these can be a great way to find brass handles with locks. Also, if you don’t want to purchase a handle with a lock, you can always search online. There are many reputable manufacturers online, & they often carry brass handles with locks.

If you haven’t considered brass handles with locks before, then I encourage you to give them a try. You can add a touch of style to any door & find yourself using them time & time again. So enjoy your new decor!!
